Interpreting
Interpreting means translating spoken language. This can be done from a booth adjacent to a conference room, directly in a meeting room, or in various multilingual settings (diplomatic and business meetings, for example).
For conference interpreting, I work with English, Spanish and Haitian Creole ⇄ French.
Translation
Translation, on the other hand, is done in writing. Translating and interpreting are more than just speaking languages well—they are professions requiring specialized skills.
As a translator, I work from Dutch, English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole into French.
I also translate from French, Spanish and English into Creole.
Translation goes hand in hand with localisation, i.e. the transposition of references and realities specific to one culture into the target language.
Proofreading & text editing
I also offer proofreading services for texts in French, improving their coherence, accuracy, clarity, and style.
If necessary, I can go further and restructure your texts in French, refine their style and references for the intended audience, or even rewrite them entirely. This comprehensive service is known as text editing.
